New: Magic Count (Visual Search)
Count takeoff is the same click, hundreds of times. Every receptacle, every sprinkler head, every door tag: find it, click it, don't lose your place. With Magic Count you draw a box around one example, and Purple Hammer finds the rest.
How it works
- Capture. Press
⇧F(or the magnifier in the sidebar) and drag a box around one example symbol. - Review. Every match on the sheet, ranked by how well it fits, with a cutoff line so you see exactly what's in and what's out.
- Correct. Keep or reject matches in the panel, or hover a match on the drawing and hit ✓/✕ right there.
- Tune. Drag the match slider and the highlights update live. Anything you kept or rejected by hand stays that way through every re-run.
- Commit. Enter. Every kept match becomes a numbered count on the drawing, the quantity lands in the worksheet, and one undo takes the whole commit back.
How it differs from other symbol search
Symbol search is not new. Plenty of takeoff tools will take one example and find lookalikes. The differences are in what happens around that:
- Rotation is handled. Capture one orientation and the rotated copies on the sheet count too. You don't re-capture the same symbol at every angle it appears.
- Up to 8 examples per search. Real drawings draw the same fixture more than one way. Add captures as you meet variants and the search matches any of them, or require all of them at the same spot for composite symbols.
- Counter-examples. The usual failure mode of symbol search is the near-miss you delete by hand, one at a time. Here a wrong match becomes an exclusion in one click ("exclude ones like this"), up to 8 of them, and the search re-runs without that family.
- The result is a full count series, not loose markups. Found symbols usually land as flat marks you still have to total. Here they commit as a numbered count series: rename or restyle the whole series at once, delete one and the rest renumber, and the worksheet carries it as one row with the quantity, live and priced like any other count.
It all runs on your machine's GPU. The drawing never leaves your computer: no upload, no cloud inference.
Where to get it
Included in every build from 0.1.13 up, every plan. It needs a GPU. On hardware that can't run it, the app tells you rather than guessing.
