New feature·7 July 2026
New: Magic Measure (one-click tracing)
Area takeoff is mostly tracing. Corner, corner, corner, close the loop, next room. With Magic Measure you click inside the area(s), and Purple Hammer finds the boundary.
How it works
Pick the tool, click inside an area. The fill spreads to the drawn boundary (it floods until it hits a different colour). You can click multiple adjacent areas or drag across boundaries so they join into one. A greenish preview will show you the area selected.
Enter commits, and the previewed areas become normal measurements plus live worksheet rows. Undo takes back the last click. Clear starts over. That's the entire tool.
Modes & options
- Point: click/drag — the start and end points are the colours that flood. More clicks add up, adjacent areas join.
- Block: an open doorway lets the fill run out into the corridor. Stamp a block over the gap and it acts as a wall; the measurement redoes itself on the spot.
- Include: the reverse block. Force an area in when the linework won't close it for you.
- Fill islands: when this setting is on, things fully enclosed will be selected (good for e.g. furniture drafted in a room). When it's off, they will be excluded (good for e.g. windows in a wall).
- Current view / whole page: speed vs scope.
